Whatever the causes of stress, whether it was due to educational pressure, job or a deadly mishmash of the two, along with pressures from family – everyone knows the feeling of getting stressed out. This stress can be distressing and sometimes painful too. Meanwhile, are you aware of the fact that stress could cause depression symptoms?

How Stress Causes Depression?

Some time back, a research was carried out to prove that stress is related to depression. The study was carried out on young rats, which were defenseless against the older rats. The rats which were tormented were still able to produce new nerve cells which focused in key emotion and memory regions of the brain. Conversely, most of these cells died later on. All through this study, there was a very significant discovery that was accomplished. And it was that stress is responsible for the death of young nerve cells.

So we can maintain the new nerve cells in living state by avoiding stress, and thus be able to prevent the various depressive symptoms that usually show up. But is there a way of throwing stress away?

How to let go of stress?

There are several different suggestions for releasing stress. Some of them include having pets – spending time with pets can be very relaxing and can hence help in managing stress. Another way to release stress is to go get a massage, when one goes to message therapy, one can effectively improve blood flow and relieve various types of stress.

Doing some thing you enjoy, can be a good way to bring down stress. For example, if you like writing, it can also be used as a way of dealing with stress. Although there is nothing as good as consulting with your doctor; it does help when you air out your deepest feelings through writing. Apart from this, there are many other hobbies that you can use. But it is all up to you.

No matter what the causes of stress are, you must find a way to offset that cause. This is how you can keep stress and depression far away.
